About

Hello and welcome to my corner of the Internet, where the quest for lifelong learning and self-mastery takes center stage! My name is Yolanda White Johnson, Ph.D., and I’m here to guide you through the fascinating landscape of self-learning—a journey that’s been an integral part of my own life.

Years experience

A Lifelong Love of
Learning

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, my passion for learning was evident from an early age. While most kids were engrossed in video games or outdoor activities, I found solace in the magical world of books. I was the kid who read the dictionary and thesaurus just for fun, eager to expand my vocabulary so I could throw big words around and humorously “insult” my friends. Yep, I’m an introvert at heart, but I’ve always loved learning something new.

My Story

Academic and Professional Background

After high school, I headed to The University of Alabama, where I completed my Bachelor’s in Journalism and Political Science. But my intellectual appetite was far from satiated. I continued my academic journey, earning a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. In 2007, life’s winding roads brought me to Arizona, where I obtained my PhD in Criminal Justice.

My Career

My career took me through the maze of law enforcement at both the state and federal levels, where I accumulated over 20 years of experience. I also wore the hat of a court administrator and spent a decade as a college professor. Each role was a new chapter, a fresh challenge that taught me something valuable about society, the justice system, and most importantly, myself.

You’re a Teacher?

When the pandemic hit, it forced us all to pause and reflect. It was an opportunity to ponder the next chapter in my life. What could I do that would allow me to give back to society and contribute in a meaningful way? A life of service—something my grandparents deeply instilled in me—was calling. I obtained my certification and became a middle school Social Studies teacher.
