My Story
Academic and Professional Background
After high school, I headed to The University of Alabama, where I completed my Bachelor’s in Journalism and Political Science. But my intellectual appetite was far from satiated. I continued my academic journey, earning a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. In 2007, life’s winding roads brought me to Arizona, where I obtained my PhD in Criminal Justice.
My Career
My career took me through the maze of law enforcement at both the state and federal levels, where I accumulated over 20 years of experience. I also wore the hat of a court administrator and spent a decade as a college professor. Each role was a new chapter, a fresh challenge that taught me something valuable about society, the justice system, and most importantly, myself.
You’re a Teacher?
When the pandemic hit, it forced us all to pause and reflect. It was an opportunity to ponder the next chapter in my life. What could I do that would allow me to give back to society and contribute in a meaningful way? A life of service—something my grandparents deeply instilled in me—was calling. I obtained my certification and became a middle school Social Studies teacher.
